James, the Son of James Hartleys

My Father's first cousin, Percival Hartley, was the son of my Father's uncle James, the solicitor in London,  He was very good to look at like most Hartley men, and had a very charming personality.  He was a great boxer at Cambridge and pulled stroke two or three times (actually once in 1836 - Editor^ in the winning -eight against Oxford in the University Boat Race,

He was Rector of Staveley for many years.  He was my godfather and I thought him a wonderful person.
